Take each measurement twice, measuring to the nearest 1/4 inch, and average the two readings if
they are different.
BUST:
Measure over the fullest point of the bust, under the arms and around the widest part of the back.
CHEST:

WAIST:
Take a firm measurement around the natural waist indentation. Do not excessively “suck in”
unless you plan to do this continually while you are wearing the garment!
HIPS:
Measure around the fullest part of the buttocks,
BODICE FRONT:
Measure from the nape of the neck (the point where your neck turns into your shoulder on
the side of your neck, usually in a straight vertical line from the center of the breast), down over
the breast, and to the bottom edge of the waist ribbon.
BACK LENGTH:
Measure from the prominent bone at the base of the neck (in the back!) down the spine to the
bottom edge of the waist ribbon.
BACK WIDTH:
Measure across the broadest part of the back from armpit to armpit.
NECK:
Measure comfortably around the base of the neck. You should be able to move your neck and
swallow.
SHOULDER WIDTH:
Measure from the nape of the neck (see Bodice Front), to the outermost point of the
shoulder. There is a bone there.
ARM LENGTH:
With the arm bent (at approximately a 45 degree angle-hand on hip), measure from the point of
the shoulder down to the wrist, just below the prominent bone.
BICEP:
Measure around the fullest part of the upper arm, generally about 1 inch below the armpit.
WRIST:
Measure around the wrist, just below the prominent bone.
ELBOW TO WRIST:
Measure from elbow point with arm bent just below the prominent bone in wrist
LENGTH FROM WAIST TO PREFERRED SKIRT LENGTHS:
Measure from the waist at the side to the point on the leg where you want the skirt to be when
standing.
OUTER LEG:
Measure from the waist at the side to the point of the ankle bone on each leg.
INSEAM:
While standing, measure from the crotch down the inner leg to the ankle bone.
THIGH:
Measure around the fullest part of the thigh, generally 2-3 inches below the crotch.
CALF:
Measure around the fullest part of the calf, below the knee.
HEIGHT:
Stand with your back against a wall or doorway. You should not have any shoes on for this
measurement. Holding your head in a normal position, place a flat object on the top of the head
which will reach the wall. Keeping this flat object level and parallel to the floor, mark the lower
edge where it touches the wall or doorway. Measure from this mark to the floor.
